The Sweaney Family Story
The Sweaneys came from Ireland and it is fact, not proven, that they were descendants of Hugeunots, French protestant reformers, exiled to Ireland. The earliest Sweaney of record was Daniel Seaney/Sene/Seney who came to America in 1664. His wife, sons -- Bryant and Denis (and possibly more), settled in Maryland. Eventually, the Sweaney Family settled in Frederick County, Maryland before going into Pennyslvania and then to Ohio, where many settled in Rose and New Philadelphia, before spreading themselves out into the mid-west (Kansas) and west (Texas, Idaho, Oklahoma, Washington).

American Indian Ancestry -- The children of Frederick R. Sweaney of Tuscawaras, Ohio were the descendants of the Thompson Family who were most likely of the Senecan (Iroquois) Tribe of Alleghany County and Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, but this is not certain. The earliest record of the children's mother, Sarah Thompson's family was of her father (Jeremiah Thompson) and mother (Louisa Whitcomb) and herself and her siblings in the 1850 Census in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. On the back of one of her portraits at old age, in her own handwriting, she proclaims that she was full-blooded American Indian. By looking at the photo, it is unarguable that her proclaimation is true; her dark brown eyes, gray hair (which once was jet black as her children's), and strong American Indian features, such as high cheekbones and darker skin instantly signify her American Indian ancestry.
Sweaney Royal Blood Line-- If you are descended from the modern day Sweaneys of Idaho, Washington, Oregon, or Colorado (and other western states), and you have the name Pierce in your family tree, you are most likely descended from the Plantagenet line of Kings. The name Pierce has been found to be linked to the name Percy of England. If you know your English history, the Percys were famous for their ownership and governership of the area of Northumberland during the middle ages. In fact, the many Henry Percys who were Earls of Northumberland are part of this family. Henry Percy, who married the daughter of King Henry III, Mary Plantagenet carries this line. The line goes all the way back to (and before) William the Conqueror of England.
